The Maddeningly Lost Pillars

“I’ll be right back! I’m searching for something just around the corner,” my mom called to me and my sister, Stephanie. Five minutes later… “I’m going to try to find her,” Stephanie told me courageously, “Stay here.”

As I waited, I started to whistle. Then all the sudden, I heard a different tune echoing through the trees! The only thing I could think to do was to whistle back. It turns out, Stephanie was just around the corner of the rock wall. Soon, Noodles (Stephanie) decided to leave me alone to try to find mom (for real this time).

After a while, I started to call out for them. Nobody answered my desperate yells, frantic shouts, and loud whistles. I was terrified. If they couldn’t hear me, I couldn’t hear them scream if they got hurt, or worse, died. Every rustle of falling leaves sounded like mom and Stephanie, or even bear. Then, I heard voices coming toward me! They’re back! I was very relieved to see them. Why did mom leave us alone in the thick woods? She said it was to find the Lost Pillars of Cherokee Arch.

Hope you enjoy the pictures!!!

  2. From Mom-I was hoping the Lost Pillars were just around the bend. That is what I kept telling myself every time I saw another bend.

  3. I loved your descriptive story telling. I could feel how anxious you were, and I know that every second feels like a year in that situation. Great descriptive writing! Maybe we need to practice with the radios so you can check in next time from the nearest hilltop. :)
