This month I have been studying Ancient Egypt. I made some yummy Egyptian bread. If you would like the recipe my Mom will send it to you. I also made a cuneiform [kyoo nee uh form]. A cuneiform is a clay tablet. I made papyrus paper [ puh pai ruhs]. I wrote using hieroglyphics. I hope you will translate the message I have made. I learned a lot about Ancient Egypt by reading books and watching videos. I learned a lot about the Nile River. Did you know that the Ancient Egyptians used the Nile River in so many different ways? They used it to drink, bathe, and most importantly they used it to grow crops.
Did you know that a long time ago Egypt was once ruled by two kings? Well let me tell you the story. There once lived two kings the White crown king and the Red crown king. One king ruled over the land in the north and the other king ruled over the land in the south. King Menes [ or maybe you heard of him as king Narmer] united the two kingdoms and became ruler of all the land. The end. Did you know that a mummy has about 3 to 8 coffins? I also made the Nile River and flooded it.
This looks like so much fun! I am glad you learned so much about Egypt. I also love the coded messages. Very cool! You are good at writing Egyptian. I could read the messages! It would take a long time to write a message in ancient Egypt.
ReplyDeleteEgyptian joke for the day: What type of music do mummies listen to? Answer: Wrap, of course!
Those hieroglyphics look great! WAY better than mine! ๐
ReplyDeleteSo many cool projects! I love ancient Egypt. David Nicolaysen
ReplyDeleteLoved the hieroglyphics projects (well done!), and seeing and translating your messages! You are becoming a regular Egyptologist! (I have never used that word before.)
ReplyDeleteHow did the Egyptian bread turn out? Was it more like a flatbread?
It was like flatbread.
DeleteI never knew that mummies have multiple coffins. That may be a detail that I have to include in DnD!!
ReplyDeleteOh Daniel, oh Daniel.
DeleteWow Leah, You've been busy learning great things about Eygpt. I think you did a great job with your cuneiform. The bread looks great too. Last night Koray and I had Naan bread, which is a form of Egyptian bread. I put spices and cheese on it and it was yummy. The nile river looks like it's been a fun project. I'm very impressed with all that you are doing.
ReplyDeleteThat's cool! I have a book that has the hieroglyphical alphabet on it!

Amazing work you are doing in school these days. Looking so knowledgeable and preteen! Lots of stuff there I didn't know, or at least must have forgotten since our days in school. It will be nice when I can visit with you in person again.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun projects! Your hieroglyphics look wonderful on that papyrus. I'm curious what the process was for making the papyrus.
ReplyDeleteBertha Riggs-Egypt was simply great!!! I love that girl and she will be a genius before she gets to college!!!!! XOXOXOXOXOXO
ReplyDeleteBertha is so awesome.
ReplyDeleteFascinating! I love ancient Egypt! Have you heard about a female pharogh? Well, she didn't want her son to be pharogh so young so she pretended to be a guy and ruled over Egypt. I love how your cuneiform looks! It actually looks ancient. I love your papyrus, too. All of your stuff is so realistic! You are amazing!!!!!!๐๐ฑ๐จ๐ป
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the last comment was me, Melody.
